Om Mani Padme Hung Hrih

The mantra of Avalokiteshvara, the great bodhisattva of compassion, is perhaps the best known and most chanted mantra in the world, perhaps because it is so simple, or perhaps because it’s amazing power to tap right into the essence of our own compassion when we chant it.

The melody here is loosely based on a melody of the om mani padme hung mantra (without Hrih) version that I have heard over and over again from the shops around the great Stupa in Boudhanath. I composed it for one occasion where I was asked to chant Buddhist mantras in a sort of Kirtan Bhakti style at on occasion. So it is meant to chant along with from the depth of one’s heart.
